Efficacy of Ammonization to Eliminate Common Mycotoxins

Mycotoxin is a worldwide problem threatening animal health and performance as well public health. The objective of this experiment was to test the effect ammonization on elimination common mycotoxins in laying hen compound feed (CF) dairy cattle total mixed ration (TMR). CF for hens TMR cows were contaminated with commonly occurring [aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), ochratoxin A (OTA), zearalenone (ZEA)] at 25 times their accepted legal limits (20 ppb, 200 ppb 500 respectively). They then subjected ammonium bicarbonate (NH4HCO3) 50C 24 hours under atmospheric pressure. levels analyzed using LC-MS/MS technique. 53% 54% AFB1; 31% OTA 22% ZEA, respectively. In conclusion, effective destroying mycotoxin, an order AFB1 > ZEA.
